At Spahotel Casino and Wanha Kasino, you can host celebrations by the lake in the very heart of Savonlinna. We offer the right venue and a tailored package for a wide range of occasions, from weddings and milestone celebrations to corporate events, sauna evenings and Christmas parties.

The Veranda at Wanha Kasino is set in the historic surroundings of the building completed in 1896. Large windows fill the space with natural light and open up to calming lake views across Saimaa, creating a serene atmosphere for your event. The Veranda is ideal for family celebrations such as birthdays and memorial gatherings, all year round.

Aurinko cabinet
The Aurinkokabinetti at Spahotel Casino offers stylish surroundings for celebrations and other events. The space is defined by a striking centrepiece, the “Aurinko” artwork created by artist Eero Luukkainen in the 1970s for Spa Hotel Casino and donated to the hotel. The cabinet is accessible.

Amanda cabinet
Amanda Cabinet is an atmospheric and welcoming private room, ideal for hosting private celebrations for up to 30 guests. It is conveniently located right next to the main entrance. The room offers beautiful views of the lake and guest harbour, as well as the charming historic Wanha Kasino building.

The charming Wanha Kasino is an excellent venue for larger meetings and events. In theatre-style seating, it can accommodate up to 100 guests.

Takkahuone
The Fireplace Room is especially well suited for more informal celebrations and gatherings. You can also meet in comfortable armchairs by the fireplace. The room is located on the hotel’s ground floor (level 0) and is accessed via a spiral staircase. From the room, you also have direct access outdoors to enjoy the Lake Saimaa scenery.

Next to the pool area, there is a private bookable sauna that can be reserved for exclusive use for up to 15 guests. It’s perfect for occasions such as bachelor or bachelorette parties, casual get-togethers, birthdays, company evenings or Christmas parties.

Restaurant Wanha Kasino offers a unique setting for life’s most important moments on the shores of Lake Saimaa. Completed in 1896, this historic venue and its spacious facilities make it possible to celebrate weddings year-round, with ever-changing lake views adding to the atmosphere. Wedding guests can stay in the same courtyard at Spahotel Casino, and in summer also at Summer Hotel Vuorilinna, with easy arrival by train, car or even by boat. Our professional team takes care of the catering, complemented by elegant wedding menus and a wide selection of drinks.

Wanha Kasino, serving guests since the Tsarist era, was completed on the “Islands of Happiness” in 1896 as a centre for spa visitors’ entertainment and social life. This elegant historic building has witnessed many moments in history.
Wanha Kasino is located opposite Spahotel Casino in the heart of Savonlinna, on the beautiful shores of Lake Saimaa. The lake nature adds a special touch to your celebration, and the seasonally changing views from the large windows are also worth considering when planning your wedding décor. With spacious facilities for up to 300 guests, Wanha Kasino is an excellent choice for weddings not only in summer, but year-round.
Wedding guests can stay at Spahotel Casino and, in summer, also at Summer Hotel Vuorilinna, both located in the same courtyard. You can reserve a room block when booking your venue. Thanks to the unique location, guests can even arrive by boat or by train, with a stop just across the nearby pedestrian bridge. A large free parking area is also available.
Our warm and professional restaurant team ensures a successful wedding dining experience. Our head chef has created delicious wedding menus to match the festive atmosphere of Wanha Kasino. We also offer an extensive wine selection, and Aatto Bar serves drinks for every taste.

Our Memorial Catering Package is designed to make an important day as calm and effortless as possible. The package includes the venue, a tastefully elegant table setting, a pre-arranged memorial table, and a traditional buffet menu featuring classic, well-loved flavours.
Frequently Asked Questions & Seating Plans
When can I decorate the event space?
Restaurant Furu serves breakfast every day, so you can decorate the restaurant no earlier than 1 p.m. on the day of the celebration.
The banquet hall or basement restaurant can be decorated the day before, provided there are no other events scheduled.
Preliminary reservation inquiry about the event space is possible approximately one month before the event date and final confirmation one week before.
Do all personal belongings/decorations/sound equipment have to be removed immediately after the wedding celebration?
Restaurant Furu serves breakfast, so the premises must be vacated immediately after the wedding celebration.
You can leave your belongings in the banquet hall and the basement restaurant overnight at your own risk, if the reservation situation allows. The swing door of the banquet hall cannot be locked
How is cleaning handled?
The hotel staff will clean everything except for decorations/sound equipment/gifts that the wedding party wishes to keep.
Is there a backstage area for the band or photographer?
Restaurant Furu does not have a backstage area, but you can reserve a small meeting room for this purpose for 100€/day.
Adjacent to the banquet hall is the Ulappa cabinet, which can be used as a backstage area.
There is a backstage area inside the basement restaurant.
What kind of sound system is there in the event space?
- All rooms have background music sound systems, which you can use to play your own music via Bluetooth from your phone/tablet/computer.
- A single microphone for speech is included in the price of the wedding package.
- A separate sound system is required for a band or DJ. You can bring your own or we can rent one from our partners for an additional fee.
Can I taste the food and wine in advance?
- Unfortunately, we do not organize public tastings.
- Private tastings can be booked for an additional fee (starting at 500€).
- Wedding cakes can be tasted at ph7 locations, and some cakes are available in pastry versions. Ask ph7 customer service for more information.
- Wines can be tasted free of charge at the planning meeting.
What does the table setting include? Are candles allowed in the premises?
- Pure white tablecloths, cloth napkins (white or nougat, as desired), cutlery, and glasses.
- We have a few mismatched vases, but if you want a uniform look, we recommend bringing your own vases.
- You can borrow clear “Kastehelmi” candle holders from us (please bring your own candles).
- Real candles are allowed.
What kind of table arrangement/seating plan is suitable for the premises?
- The banquet hall has round tables, which we recommend seating 5-8 people per table. The wedding couple can sit at a round table with their close friends and family, or they can have their own table.
- Restaurant Furu has long tables for 8-16 people, a separate table for the wedding couple, or a so-called T-shaped table, where the wedding couple sits crosswise at the end of the long table.
- The basement restaurant has small round tables for 4-5 people. Long tables are available in the basement restaurant at an additional cost.
- Sample seating plans can be found under this page. Our staff will be happy to help with any questions regarding seating arrangements.
Can the wedding ceremony be held at the venue?
The ceremony can be held on the terrace belonging to Restaurant Furu. The terrace has around 30-40 chairs, which we can arrange in rows, with the remaining guests standing at the back.
If you choose the Banquet Hall or Basement Restaurant, the terrace can be rented for the ceremony at a cost of 550€.
Please note that in case of rain, the ceremony can be moved to your own event space, but these spaces are a bit cramped, especially for weddings with more than 50 guests, and there is no room for ceremony furniture.
Our magnificent Auditorium is an alternative for indoor ceremonies, subject to availability, for which we charge 600€.
