Wanha Kasino was completed in 1896 as the centre of entertainment and social life for spa guests on the Happy Islands. Aino Ackté, the prima donna of the opera world, knew her worth and appreciated quality. You are now in her favourite haunt. Ackté was a familiar sight at Kasino’s parties over the
years. It is incredible that we still have the joy of seeing this beautiful building today. Wanha Kasino invites you to celebrate life with its history of entertainment,  artfully prepared dishes, and dedicated service staff –cheers!

Our restaurant is open during special events, holidays, and Savonlinna Theater’s and concert intermission catering. We’re also open for groups, when booked in advance.

New Year’s Eve Dinner 31.12.2025

On New Year’s Eve, it’s time to enjoy lively music and a delicious dinner!
Big Bang Big Band Goes Abba concert in Savonlinnasali, adjacent to the restaurant, starts at 19:00.
Enjoy a four-course dinner either before or after the concert.
Dinner is served in two seatings, 16:00-19:00 & 21:00-00:00. 
Price 62 €/person, wine package 42 €/person.
We recommend making a table reservation well in advance.

Ode to Saimaa – Surprise Menus at Wanha Kasino in July 2026

Served in the stunning historic setting of Restaurant Wanha Kasino, the Ode to Saimaa surprise menu is a tribute to the region’s ingredients and culinary culture.

The menu, designed and prepared by Chef Pyry Nykänen, is available from 3.7.-1.8.2026, with seatings Tue–Thu at 15:30 and Fri–Sat at 15:30 and 18:00.
Outside these times, the menu is available for groups by reservation (min. 10 guests) and on Sundays and Mondays for groups (min. 30 guests).

3 course surprise menu: 54 €/person
5 course surprise menu: 69 €/person
